Privacy Policy

Bothside uses your Google sign-in only to identify your account and lets you choose a public display name. Your email address is not shown to the community.

What we store

We store your display name, posts, reactions, comments, and photos you choose to upload. Photos are public community content when you publish an item.

New comments and replies are checked for potentially vulgar, sexually explicit, or harassing language. Comments flagged by this text filter are held for admin review before appearing publicly. This check runs within Bothside and does not send your comment to an external moderation service.

We also store private reports and request counters to help prevent abuse.

Profile photos

You can upload a profile photo, keep your initials, or choose Gravatar. Uploaded photos use the same public file storage as item photos. When you choose Gravatar, your browser requests the photo associated with a hashed version of your sign-in email from Gravatar. Your email is shown only in your own account menu and profile panel, not in public posts or comments.

Location

Current location is requested only when you tap “Use current” or “Use current location”. Your browser sends your coordinates to our server and OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service to find your area for location search or an item you are adding. We do not save these coordinates with your account. The city or area you select for an item is stored with the item and shown publicly after approval.

Language preference

Bothside remembers your chosen interface language on this browser using a cookie for one year. This preference is not saved to your account. You can change it in your profile language settings.
